Terraformers synopsis

400 years ago humans sent algae and cockroaches to Mars in order to start the terraforming process.

During that time the algae have been hard at work making the environment on Mars habitable for mankind.  Mars now has more atmosphere, the show references the high andes as a reference point, although breathing would be very uncomfortable for a nonmodified human and you can see some green plains in the distance next to a lake.

All in all pretty amazing stuff given it's only been 400 hundred years but maybe the advanced work that our little algae have accomplished is also thanks to the other inhabitant of Mars, creepy man-sized cockroaches.

Cockroaches from hell

While they were normal when they arrived 400 years ago these cockroaches have evolved into 7-foot-tall ripped muscly imitations of mankind for some reason.  They are fast, incredibly strong, can fly, oh and they can get into damn near everywhere despite their size.

Look upon the face of death and despair.  This should be the
new "you mad bro" picture

After several people on Earth start dying from incurable plague the top minds on the planet determine that the new virus, which has a 100% mortality rate, has come from Mars.

Ad Astra Mars

Hold on tight because this is about to get thrilling! The fate of Earth is in the hands of a brave group of 100 soldier volunteers who have been chosen to embark on a dangerous mission to Mars.

But it's not just any mission - they must retrieve a pure sample of the virus that is threatening to wipe out humanity. The catch?

They must undergo a surgical procedure with only a 30% survival rate before they can even set foot on the red planet. And that's not even the most shocking part - the injection they receive turns them into human-bug hybrids with superhuman abilities! Get ready for an epic battle against the Cockroaches as these modified humans fight to save Earth from certain doom.

Oh the humanity oh the horror, if only we could see
No plan survives first contact, especially with roaches
The plan for this mission was well conceived but everything that could conceivably go wrong does.

Apolo 13 would have a hard time holding a candle to the troubles these people are having on the last day of their trip to Mars.  Several cockroaches, which the show calls Terraformers, somehow manage to get aboard the ship and wait patiently until they are starting their descent to Mars.

Then they strike.  People are killed in gruesome ways for example one guy literally has his spine just yanked out of his body moments after a woman's leg is kicked off by a Terraformer.  Then a group of Terraformers mash the hell out of the injections needed by the crew to fight them.

Wait these guys aren't just animals?  They're making strategic decisions?  Wait do they have caveman clubs?  Where did they get those?  Yeah, those are the questions that come to mind while watching a 7-foot-tall cockroach gingerly pick up the last syringe, place it between its fingers, and snap it in two while the crew looks on in horror.

These things are smart and vicious, not the best combination to hope for in your enemy.

Crisp action balanced with brutal violence but brought low by censorship
The action so far in Terraformers has been crisp and tight...when you can see it.  This show has caught a lot of flack since its premiere for censorship.  At the time nearly half the screen is blacked out while causing a lot of the scene to be simply unviewable.

Annoying is one way to put it but I would say that it's unfortunate.  I'll link some pictures below and you guys can make your decision.
